There are different means of upgrading characters, often requiring expending farmable resources. Most of these are accessed through the Boost menu, with the only exception being intimacy, which is accessed through the Intimacy menu.

Attributes

Attribute
Rarity A character's ceiling in terms of rank and level. A higher rarity character also requires more investment to boost.
Class & Trait A character's primary role or niche. Usually gives you a general idea on how they can be deployed, their attack type, their stat distribution, and how their skill may function.
Nature A unique passive skill that usually gives them a unique buff or function. May overlap with trait.
Level The character's current power level in a given rank.
Rank The indicator of how many times a character's level has reached max then reset back to 1.
Proficiency Indicator of how many times a character has received a proficiency upgrade, which provides small incremental stat boosts at the cost of character dupes and draco.

Skills

Attribute
Skill The special ability of a character which can be activated in combat once a unit's SP requirement is reached. In its description, it may specify details like it being automatically activated when conditions are met, or if it can keep charges.
Skill Level Indicates the current power level of a skill. Skill level are capped according to the character's rank.
SP The resource used to activate skills. Most skills cap at their sp cost. SP recovers 1sp per second normally. Some characters' SP recovery is tied to the current accumulated COST in battle instead.
Initial SP The starting SP of a character when newly deployed.
Skill Duration How long a Skill is in effect. Some are instantaneous, while some last for a period.
Skill Activation There are two types: Auto and Manual. Auto will activate on its own once requirements are met, usually if the target is in range or the condition is met, like low HP. Manual requires the player to activate it on their own.

Eidoi

Attribute
Eidos An equippable still which grants bonus stats, and in higher rarities provides an Eidos Skill.
Eidos Level Indicates the current power level of an eidos. It increases the stat buff a character receives when the eidos is equipped.
Eidos Skill An additional passive skill than an Eidos of rarity 5 or 6 can provide. Some have conditions to trigger like working only on certain Classes.

Progression Priority

Upgrading characters to reach their maximum potential can be a long and tedious process. Thankfully, the content does not require you to have the maximum number of invested characters.

It is generally recommended to follow this pattern for most characters based on how impactful the change will be to their performance:

  1. Level Up to Max Lv. Bronze
  2. Rank Up to Silver
  3. Generally Level Up to Lv. 40-50 Silver
  4. Skill Upgrade Lv. 4

Other upgrade aspects like Max Lv. Silver and Proficiency upgrades may not provide substantial enough returns for their cost.

Skill Level 7 is reserved for units you consider impactful enough to warrant the investment.

Intimacy bonuses are usually just a bonus to unlocking the character's stills.

Max Level/Skill Investment Cost

These tables compute the average time required to grind the materials necessary for max investment for level, rank, and Skills through normal means of quest grinding.

Leveling Up

Leveling up increases the character's stats, which directly improves their combat effectiveness. Instead of characters getting EXP and the like from clearing quests, characters require Battle Records and Draco to level up. Each character has their own stat growth and benefits from leveling differently. The stats that grow through leveling would be HP, ATK, and DEF. After a character reaches their maximum level, their Rank can be increased, in which they reset back to level 1 and can be leveled up further.

Level Up Requirements

Requirements to increase a character's level scale exponentially as their level and rank go higher. There is a 1:1.1 ratio on the required cost for EXP and Draco. And the stat gains do not necessarily scale higher as they gain levels; instead, they grow linearly. Due to this, it is ideal to mostly cap a character's level if you are invested in ranking them up or simply maxing them out, and otherwise keep them at a certain threshold where costs are not too steep. The best way to acquire Draco and Battle Records is from Exploration Quests.

Rank Up

Ranked-up characters get new art, sprite art, access to more skill upgrades, and a new level curve. Old stats are retained.

Ranking up will reset the character's level back to 1 while retaining their current stats and allowing them to level up and be upgraded further. This also allows them to level their skills up to 7. This is done by maxing out their level and spending the needed Draco and items to increase their rank.

There are three ranks: Bronze, which is where all regular characters start; Silver, which rarities 3★ and above can rank up to and is where all alternate characters start; and Gold, which is currently locked.

It is important to note that the growth of characters differs a lot, with some benefiting greatly through access to better stats while others solely rely on access to higher skill levels.

In addition to stats, Silver rank unlocks the character's splash art, as well as gives them new sprite art.

Note: Some characters may not have a rank up yet. For more info, refer to Rank Up Release History

Rank Up Requirements

The required items for rank-up have a standard set of requirements depending on their class and rarity. Each class has its own upgrade material item, and a secondary material, a much harder-to-get item, is shared between the two of them. The expense of ranking up characters also increases depending on their rarity.

Class upgrade materials can be acquired from Exploration Quests and Event Exchanges.

It is recommended to never miss class items on event stores, especially the secondary ones.

Upgrading Skills

Upgrading skills improves the strength of skills through higher multipliers, improves their uptime through higher durations, lower SP costs, and higher starting SP, and potentially adds an additional effect, which may include more range or more buffs/debuffs. Skills are upgraded using skill manuals and class upgrade materials. The requirements are standard according to class and rarity. And the expense increases according to their rarity.

Characters starting at Bronze Rank can upgrade up to level 3, and rank up is required to upgrade up to level 7.

Skill Manuals and class upgrade materials can be acquired from Exploration Quests and Event Exchanges.

Note: If an upgrade does not change anything on the skill description, it is likely improving its uptime/cooldown via its SP cost or starting SP. (Sadly, it is not currently displayed on the menu.)

Increasing Intimacy

File:Example Intimacy.png
Anima's intimacy bonuses are HP +5, Nature Boost, and DEF +13.

Increasing Intimacy unlocks small stat bonuses through certain thresholds: 30%, 50%, and 100%. These require gifting characters gifts within the interaction menu.

Gift Boxes can be acquired in various ways, including Exploration Quests and Event Exchanges.

Intimacy Bonuses can include:

  • DEF +5 / +7 / +13
  • HP +5 / +7 / +13
  • RES +5 / +7 / +13

Increasing Proficiency

Proficiencies are small stat bonuses gained through expending Draco and character duplicates.

Increasing Proficiency provides small independent stat bonuses, which are gained through expending Draco and Character Memories. The required amount of Draco and Memories increases exponentially as Proficiency increases. However, the stat upgrades are considerably linear and small. Despite this, these are the few ways ATK Speed and Repositioning Time can be improved. The cap for Proficiency is up to +99 and would promise roughly 10% improvement in every stat.

It is generally advised to avoid this system despite having no other use for Memories. For more information, refer to Proficiency Data.
